When I first began consciously getting in touch with my spirit guides, I found this book an indispensible resource. In it, the author describes the vibrational characteristics of many types of spirit people, and their functions in our lives. She offers techniques on how to get and stay in touch with them, as well as generally live a life connected to Spirit. I still refer to it quite often.
Here is the lecture series version.
Autobiography of a Yogi, by Paramhansa Yogananda
Yogananda, a spiritual teacher of the early 20th century, peppers this autobiographical narrative with a sense of humor, and a sincere appreciation and love for both humanity and the realm of Spirit. He recounts a variety of interesting spiritual experiences he encountered throughout his life. And we are also treated to his deep knowledge of the historical and philosophical underpinnings of Indian culture.
His reflections gave me food for thought about spiritual experiences I would encounter in my own life with the unfoldment of my abilities, and helped me understand the abilities of people around me....such as those of my interesting friend, Andre. Free online version of this book:

The Dream Game, by Ann Faraday
This user-friendly book gives one guidance in how to interpret one's own dreams. Dreams are a powerful way of directly accessing your inner wisdom. It is no cliche to say that we each hold within us the answers to our most pressing questions. It's true! Throw away that "dream dictionary"....you have your own dream dictionary within you, full of personal entries written by and for you. You owe it to yourself to access these messages of your own soul, as reflected in your dreams. Ann Faraday provides practical dream interpretation techniques that anyone can use, alone or with a group of like-minded dreamers in a workshop setting. And these techniques really work, trust me.
Ashtanga Yoga for Women, by Michaela Clarke and Sally Griffyn
This book reviews Series 1 of Ashtanga Yoga practice as developed by Sri Patthabi Jois. But more than that, aspects of yoga as they relate to women's specific needs are also addressed. Guidance about fertility, childbirth, diet and self-care are interwoven into a yogic practice of balance.
My outlook and understanding about health and nutrition was all backward, at least that's according to the information I learned from this book. It completely changed my definition of what "healthy" really means, and enlightened me about how to perceive of and enjoy food as medicine, as a powerful ally on my life path. The author has written many books on health and beauty, is a practicing acupunturist trained in a tradional acupunture college in China, and one of the nation’s leading experts on traditional Chinese herbal medicine.
